Rainhouse hosts an annual engineering showcase where local students present their projects and connect with industry professionals. The event raises awareness of careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) and builds valuable connections between students, industry, and the public.
Anticipated to be our largest showcase yet, the 2026 event will feature collaborations with UVic engineering teams, Camosun College, FIRST Robotics, capstone projects, and industry partners, offering an unparalleled opportunity to experience innovation in action.
Held at the Gorge Pavilion, the 2025 showcase marked a year of repositioning. For the first time, student engineering teams joined UVic capstone projects and industry professionals, creating a focused event centered on collaboration, mentorship, and real-world engineering insight.
Hosted at the Bay Street Armoury, the 2024 showcase expanded with more student teams and greater industry involvement. This growth created a vibrant platform for students to share their work, connect with professionals, and engage the wider community in celebrating innovation.
The 2022 showcase, held at the Bay View Car Shop, brought together a record number of student teams and industry participants. It highlighted the exceptional skills of local STEAM students and strengthened ties between aspiring engineers and professionals across multiple sectors.
This event took place at the Bay View Car Shop celebrated the return of in-person events after the pandemic. Students impressed with innovative projects, while industry leaders provided valuable feedback and mentorship, reigniting energy and connection within the engineering community.
Building upon the success of the previous year, our 2019 event exceeded expectations. It was heartening to witness the growing interest and participation in science and technology among our local students. The showcase served as a platform to celebrate their enthusiasm and dedication to innovation.
Our second annual engineering showcase was a success. We were honoured to welcome esteemed industry leaders such as Emilie De Rosenroll CEO of South Island Prosperity Project, Jack Litzenberger CEO of JOL Consultants Inc., and Mike Whalley President of Babcock Canada.
