Differential Pressure System (DPS001)

Rainhouse Manufacturing Canada Ltd. built a modular testing device, called the Differential Pressure System (DPS001). This device will be used to evaluate the breathability of medical-grade face masks in collaboration with Vancouver Coastal Health.

Project overview

Project name: Differential Pressure System (DPS001)
Client: Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)
Type of project: Engineering, Design, Manufacturing
Industry: Health Care Services
Project duration: December 2020 until May 2021.
Location: Victoria, BC

Rainhouse Manufacturing Canada Ltd. is pleased to work with Vancouver Coastal Health providing a dependable and responsive service.

This client project involved engineering, design, and manufacturing. Rainhouse Manufacturing Canada Ltd. worked in collaboration with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) to build a modular testing device, called the Differential Pressure System (DPS001).

The device evaluates the breathability of medical-grade face masks. The evaluation occurs by measuring the differential pressure required to draw air through a particular surface area of a medical mask at a constant flow rate. This device allows users to test various medical-grade face masks’ breathability during inhalation and exhalation.

Rainhouse used VCH’s design constraints in addition to the NIOSH and European Standard breathability testing procedures to design, manufacture, assemble, and test the modular mask testing station.

The result was the production of an integrated and portable Differential Pressure System (DPS). The DPS is currently in use by VCH to evaluate the breathability of various medical face masks.

We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to Vancouver Coastal Health improvements. Thank you for your continuous work to keep our communities safe.
