Discover our History - Employee Spotlight: Chris Litchy

Chris Lichty

This month’s employee spotlight features Chris Lichty, the Vice-President at Rainhouse. Chris is an experienced machinist and team leader. He can make almost any imaginable part a reality. When not at Rainhouse, Chris frequently ventures into the wilderness. He loves riding his dirt bike and spending time with family and friends.

We asked Chris a few questions to get to know him better, and here is what he had to say.

What do you do at Rainhouse?

A little bit of everything. My role mostly consists of ensuring that day-to-day operations are running smoothly while also keeping an eye on the future and helping to ensure that Rainhouse is heading in a direction that makes sense for clients’ needs.

What do you enjoy most about working at Rainhouse?

I really enjoy having the opportunity to work with different members of the organization to problem-solve and try to find more efficient ways to do things. Getting a chance to see all the different aspects of the company has been really fun.

What is your favourite aspect of CNC machining?

It is always so rewarding to be able to take somebody’s idea or design and turn it into something real. The process to create that part is something that is always changing with different machinists’ perspectives on how it should be done, getting to see all of those fresh and different ways to do things means that we are always learning.

How was the process/journey to complete a tool and die apprenticeship?

Completing my tool and die apprenticeship is something that I really enjoyed. Apprenticeships are a great way to learn a trade while also earning a wage at the same time. The on-the-job training is a very important part of the apprenticeship and the organization that I was with during that time allowed me to learn new things and grow as much as I was able to.

What is something most people do not know about you?

That I know how to fly a plane.

What is the ONE THING you cannot live without?

I would say that beyond the obvious of family and friends if I were to pick something material that I could not live without I would have to say a dirt bike. Passions and interests are always changing, however, this is something that I have been involved with for quite a while now and I have been able to see many new places and meet many great friends because of it. Being able to learn new skills and challenge myself outside of my everyday activities helps to keep things interesting. My dirt bike is the thing that helps me do that.
