Employee Spotlight: Neil Rynsoever

Neil Rynsoever

This month’s employee spotlight features Neil Rynsoever, a skilled Red Seal Machinist at Rainhouse who is able to able to program, set up, and operate all of our machines. Beyond his work in our facility, Neil’s passions take him outdoors, where he embraces the thrill of paddleboarding on local lakes, navigating rugged terrain on his dirt bike, and even exploring faraway lands like Italy.

We asked Neil a few questions to get to know him better, and here is what he had to say.

What do you do at Rainhouse?

I am a skilled Red Seal Machinist. I can create components both manually and through the precision of CNC machinery. My capabilities encompass a broad spectrum. I am able to program, set up, and operate all of the machines at Rainhouse. The newest machine I am just starting to learn is our Zeiss Duramax Coordinate-Measuring Machine (CMM) which I find to be a great addition to our CNC machine family.

What do you enjoy most about working at Rainhouse?

I enjoy the company of my fellow colleagues, the friendly atmosphere, working around the dogs, and learning new things. I find every day is a little different.

What is your favourite aspect of CNC machining?

Once I have machined a challenging part, I like seeing the part completed within specifications, with great surface finishes.

How was the process/journey to become a Red Seal machinist?

The experience offered a good mix of enjoyment and meaningful challenges. During my second year, I did night school once a week, all while maintaining a full-time workload, which made for long days. In my third year, I transitioned to dedicating every Friday to my studies. It was nice to be able to focus on school more.

What is something most people do not know about you?

I have a degree in golf course management.

What is the ONE THING you cannot live without?

That’s a tough question, but I definitely could not live without coffee.
